Fantasy books are the one for that, wizards, witches & elves, you gotta love them. One of the most classic fantasy novels has got to be The Lord of the Rings, it's been turned into three films, that are fantastic but there's nothing like reading the big book itself & it is a BIG book believe me but it's well worth the effort.
I'll be reviewing all the new books I read so watch this space!!
The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings Set By J R R Tolkien
The Hobbit
The prelude to The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit met with instant success when it was first published in 1937. It tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who is persuaded by the wizard Gandalf and his dwarves to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the dragon.
The Lord of the Rings
First published almost fifty years ago, J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic adventure The Lord of the Rings has earned a place among the world’s most enduring works of literature. In the widest survey of its kind ever conducted in this country, it was voted the best novel of the twentieth century and is loved by millions. With a proven ability to enchant readers of all ages, it is considered an essential part of every home library and is soon to be featured in a major film trilogy, the first part of which will be released later this year. We are delighted to offer the complete The Lord of the Rings in three exclusive softback editions that mirror in every way the magnificent quality of the hardback version but at a massive saving.
Featuring Tolkien’s own inimitable cover art, as well as his illustrative maps, chronologies, family trees and calendars, the books tell the story of Sauron, the Dark Lord, who plots dominion over the kingdom of Middle-earth. To achieve his goal he must have in his possession all the Rings of Power – and one still eludes him. This is the Ring that has fallen into the hands of the elderly hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, and which he in his turn entrusts to his young cousin, Frodo.
Frodo sets out from his home in the sleepy Shire on a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, where he must destroy the Ring, so thwarting the plans of the Dark Lord and saving Middle-earth from unimaginable evil. The Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece of storytelling and this superb three-volume edition will enthral both established Tolkien-lovers and those embarking upon the irresistible adventure of the Rings for the first time.
Available in a one-volume trilogy, the origin of Drizzt Do’Urden is revealed.
Born to the House Do’Urden in the underground city of Menzoberranzan, Drizzt escapes the murderous intrigue of the Matron Mother Malice to make his way to the surface.
Hunted by his brother Dinin, his sister, Briza, and the animate corpse of his weapon-master father Zaknafein, the dark elf finds allies in the dwarves Regis and Bruenor, and the humans Wulfgar and Catti-Brie. He will need them to reclaim his family heritage.
